Australian open - Andy and Maria? Who cares!

It's ALL about Roger!!!

I had to post because I found a beautiful picture of Johhny Depp.
Here it is:

So the Australian Open where it is mid-summer right now and HOT (unlike Colorado where it is currently snowing), Leyton Hewitt is out already (boo-hoo), Rafael Nadal is not playing and my money is on a showdown between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer with Rog winning. The guy is AMAZING. Roger rocks. Yes, I am a member of his fan club and yes, I know he is only 24 (almost 25) but I also know he is a LEO like me!
On the womens side, we have my favorite Kim Clijsters, still in the running BUT she's injured. My money is on.... Martina Hingis and possibly Justine Henin-Hardenne. That side of the draw is much tougher with Serena Williams, Maria (is she or is she not bonking Andy Roddick and who really cares he is way too cute for her and plus her dad is a frigging freak and her shoulder and ribs are hurting her)Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport and I'll mention Svetlana Kuznetsova just because she is tough. Not very attractive (understatement) but tough. Serena is supposedly back with a vengence but I haven't seen her play yet.

I love my ipod.

Ashes and Snow - Santa Monica

Isn't that a beautiful picture?? I want to go to the exhibit in Santa Monica when I am out in LA in February. I found out about this artist and the exhibit by reading my Vanity Fair magazine and being the voracious reader that I am (I read EVERYTHING)saw the Rolex advertisement that mentioned it. The exhibit is also going to be displayed at the Vatican. Here is a link to some information about the exhibit in Santa Monica.

They are cleaning out the refridgerator at work and better not throw anything of mine away as I marked them all with "save" and my name. GRRRR.

What did you do this weekend?

Uh.. I went from a 32 to a 34 in WOW with my warrior. I finished watching the rest of the first season of Lost. I got my nails redone after breaking one in the parking lot of Costco. In other words, absolutely nothing noteworthy even though the weather was wonderful. I did make quite a few taxi trips to drop off/pick up Kathi and drink a fair amount of Baileys Irish creme.

Today however, I have learned of a disgusting practice (to me of course, not necessarily to everyone else). It's called metzitzah b'peh. Here is another interesting article about it. When I read about it my first thought was, hey, it's a boys first blow job, but I seriously doubt the poor newborn could really enjoy it. Basically, after a jewish boy is circumsised a man buts his mouth on the babies penis and sucks the blood off it. I mean GROSS.

I think circumsision is stupid in the first place. Kind of like cutting dogs tails off because that's how the breed is "supposed" to look. I would like to take this opportunity to mention that I do think the Carnictus (what is plural for that?)in King Kong look very much like penises and I KNOW I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Ahhh, to be young, smart, talented and MOTIVATED

My daughter wants to go to RISD this summer and there for college as well. How exciting and what a wonderful opportunity for her.

I like this statement: RISD’s Pre-College Program is oriented toward relatively independent young people. Students need to take initiative both in and outside of the classroom. If parents and their children are seeking a somewhat sheltered environment, they should consider the nature of this program very carefully before applying
I like this too:

WHY ATTEND PRE-COLLEGE?
· to develop a strong foundation of art and design skills
· to participate in a college-like curriculum in the visual arts
· to study under the direction of a highly specialized arts faculty
· to build confidence in oneself as an artist, a student, and simply as an individual
· to become adept at using a variety of tools, materials and techniques — from traditional to cutting-edge — in one of 18 different art and design disciplines
· to begin serious work on portfolio pieces for college admissions
· to experience art as part of an intense but short-term program before investing time, effort and money in a college program
· to gather letters of recommendation from a notable arts faculty/
· to create strong bonds with a diverse group of students who share an enthusiasm for art and design

I keep telling my kids if I had one thing to do differently, I would have applied myself in high school. I could have gone anywhere to college and been anything. Kathi has that advantage. She can do whatever she wants as she has wealthy parents,
and two sets of extremely wealthy grandparents and everyone of them LOVES her and wants the best for her.

I am struggling with accepting people the way they are. I see things differently and from a different perspective and that's ok. I have to let people do things the way they want to. I have to be ok with people not doing anything except talk, talk, talk with no action. That is just my perspective, the way I see it and they may not see it that way and that's ok. This is how people learn. I could say, do this, do that, and why haven't you done this or that, and how can you just sit around and do nothing, but it's not my place to do so and if I do, they will not learn it on their own. I can tell someone over and over and over that they should do this or that and just because they don't, I have to accept it. I learned this the hard way and I imagine it frustrated the hell out of my parents. They knew I was smart and tried and tried to get me to care about my school work and I didn't. I didn't care (the old "I don't care"). I floated through life. La-la-la, it will all work out. It wasn't until I took full responsibility for myself and my life that I grew up. I HAD to and I feel so empowered and strong and self-confident now that I have.

So, back to the wind in Boulder. Tuesday recorded wind speeds reached 70 mph. The strongest recorded wind speed in Boulder was in 1971 when a gust was reported at 147 mph.

The Australian Open is coming up. It starts on January 16. I hope Roger Federer plays.

Should I waste the space ranting about...

Myspace sucks. I hate myspace. I don't want to waste anymore time with myspace.
If you don't like something, you can either change it or accept it. If you accept it, that means you can't bitch about it anymore. I vote for changing it. I won't use it anymore, nor will I waste time/space bitching about it because it sucks.

Went to see King Kong yesterday. Awesome movie. A tad overboard with the dinosaurs and all the different bugs and stuff but I cried at the end of the movie. Poor King Kong. The way they made New York City look was great. I like Naomi Watts' performance and went and bought (fake money) stock on the Hollywood Stock Exchange in her to get an oscar nomination. I thought Jack Black was great as well.

He really reminds me of a young Jack Nicholson. Jack Black was born in HERMOSA BEACH, California. Wow! I know where that place is. I wonder if his parents or him live around there now.

Only today and tomorrow at work and then I'm off for 3 days. Going to Vail on Saturday for the first time this year. I'm looking forward to it.

Yesterday it was super windy. Check here for how windy.

Back to work. Or something. My ipod is out of batteries. Bummer.
