AARGH

I have a headache - for the second day in a row. I'm bored (I'm at work), I'm taking tons of time off coming up (yes, yes, yes). The price of flights to LAX has gone up over $100 in less than a week (Booooooo). My kids have yet to give me anything for Xmas even though I told them I wanted some neat new potholders. I am jealous and insecure (so what else is new).

I read a National Geographic Traveler today and the newest Bookmarks magazine and now I'm going to go to Amazon and add some books to my wish list.

I don't have to be back here until next Wednesday.

There is supposed to be another FRIGGING snow storm headed this way. Not a "blizzard" but another major storm. I'm kind of sick of all this and I'm NOT going to drive to work in it and have to spend another two nights here.

Y'all can kiss my lily white azz if you think I'm doing that again.

RIP James Brown.

LIVE from the BLIZZARD OF 2006!!!

OK, at first I thought this was neat and part of me still does but I want to be home with my kids instead of stuck at work and having to stay in some hotel that has no liquor liscense. AND IT IS STILL SNOWING!!! AND THE ROADS HAVE NOT BEEN PLOWED!

Update 10:19 a.m. - Tattered Cover is STILL closed, my bank in Boulder is closed today (great..not) all the buses are not running, everything is stopped. I'm stuck here and I doubt I will get home tonight either. Our office is closed - no cafeteria, no nothing. This F*ing sucks! (it wouldn't if I were at home and NOT here). I can't stand it when the "perfect employee" comes to work when the building is closed. Who the heck is he trying to impress? There is no one here...

I WANNA GO HOME!!! I miss my puppy and kids and PD.

Oliver and his banana

I got my finger scratched in my attempts to get the perfect picture and it's blurry!
This is the cats, and at this moment of picture taking believe me it's 100% Oliver's and Oliver's ONLY, catnip banana.

He has the loudest purr of all 5 of my kitties.

Sooo, I got my hair cut and colored and I am now a dark brunette with a really cool shag. That was good. I got the Xmas tree yesterday and put it up. I went grocery shopping. I played tennis - very well too - for an hour and a half. On Monday I did Hot Yoga and then did a weight class with Jen out at Mountain's Edge and my triceps are soooo sore STILL.

The song that I am really digging right now is called "the Compromise" and it's by a band from Arizona called THE FORMAT. It's so catchy.

I had a small amount of humus and crackers for breakfast and I'm drinking some Kombucha. I can't even remember the last time I had a beer.

I want to look for a flight to LA and figure out when would be a good time to go in January.

I met this girl yesterday (Misha) at Salon Salon and she is going to walk Basti! She loves German Shepherds and going on walks and since we just had another murder in Boulder (always at Xmas time - Jon Benet, Suzanne Chase and now this guy) she would feel safer with a dog to walk. Basti is perfect for that. He's HUGE and he barks/growls at everybody, everything he sees on walks.

SNOW BLIZZARD WARNING!
YIKES!!! It wasn't snowing when I left this a.m. but it was dumping when I got to work and the roads were already slick and getting covered. I guess I'll have to stay down here overnight - darn. Maybe go see a movie or to Tattered Cover or just to sleep early and sleep later getting up. Max is going up to Elboring Bora today and tomorrow too.

Good times.

Sunday, December 17

Last day of work until Wed/Thursday and then I have 4 days off!!!

Kathi and I will be going to San Francisco on January 31st and staying 3 nights at the Argonaut Hotel (cheap on priceline.com). It's #3 on the best places to stay in San Fran on tripadvisor.com (my reviews are written on there as "Kathismom") so we both are looking forward to it. I've already written to CCA and SFAI to schedule appointments for portfolio reviews, tours and interviews.

Skiing was great on Wednesday. There was lots of powder to be had and I took my K2 Phat Luv skis and just was bombing down the mountain. I was supposed to go tomorrow as well but I have too much to do at home.

Now the only thing I have to decide for tomorrow is if I want to do the hot yoga at 9 -10:30 or 12-1:30... and when I want to workout at Mountains Edge. Ok, I've decided. Yoga at 9, weights at 12, eye doctor at 3, Xmas tree afterwords. Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday - yoga at - oops, can't do it Tuesday. Hair cut/color with Jill Leitz at 9, then tennis at 1-2:30. Can't go to a hot room with hairdye in my hair, not only will all the color sweat out but I'll stink up the room with my chemical smell.

I'm on book III of The Dark Tower by Stephen King. I am rereading it.
I'm tired too. I stayed up too late last night.

I can not take this anymore

My feet are cold!!

BRRRR! I went out of the house with no socks on today and some little tennis shoe thingys that are wet inside and my feet are F*ing freezing!!!

Maybe some hot chocolate would be good right about now.

I've been reading my Wired magazine today and found an interesting tidbit about the world's tallest buildings.
By 2012, bragging rights to the world's tallest building will have bounced from Taipei, Taiwan (Taipei 101 is the current kink), to Seoul, to Dubai and back to Seoul. Chicago's Sear's Tower -the tallest building in the US today - won't even reach the top 10.

Lotte World II Hotel, Seoul, South Korea, 2625 feet.

I have to go grocery shopping tonight for sure. Last night I made a really yummy roast beef and mashed potatoes for dinner. The kids were suitably impressed. I did go do Hot Yoga yesterday and as usual really enjoyed it. I did not like the instructor though, she was very unfriendly. I'm tired as usual on my first day back at work but tomorrow will be better. It's snowing in Vail and I can't wait to go again on Wednesday (I'm going to charge up my boots and make sure they are dry inside). Not too much tennis this week. So far just on Thursday - 3 hours though.

I have a new favorite song but I can't remember the artist, I'll have to ask Kathi. It's so poppy and catchy! She got her SAT scores, I'm going to be interested in seeing what they were. I was looking at her ACT scores yesterday and she scored better than 99% of the kids taking it in reading comprehension. She also just brought home a report card/midterm I think that is all A's with a B+ in her AP European History class so basically that's like straight A's. She's so smart!

Happy Birthday, gosh you are OLD!

HAHAHAAHa. Ich habe ein witz gemacht.

Anway, to an old (literally and figuratively) boyfriend who is having a bday today, happy birthday. I hope you get to ski some nice snow this winter (unless of course, your knees can't handle it anymore).

Kathi and I went to Vail today and I am getting my skiing legs back. We made some long runs with no stops and my quads were telling me they were in pain but I'm fine now and she is sore! They need more snow there for sure and it looks like tonight and early in the week they will get some. I'm planning on going up with the GRRRLS on Wednesday.

I was very cold today skiing and my boots were cold too, I am going to have to charge them (yes, I have boot warmers) for the next time.

I had a really really terrible dream last night, I don't know what is up with all my bad violent dreams these days. Must be my mind working in overtime.

I played a little itsybitsy bit of WOW tonight already but am finished for now. I wiped out Max's account for $$ and sent it to my characters.

Tomorrow is another day.

Friday

Umi is playing with my swim goggles, she just knocked them on the floor and is going after them. I'm so glad I buy the cats such nice toys to play like catnip bananas that they can't rip up and they play with my swim goggles. Sigh.

Off to play tennis, go get dog food, Kathis skis, workout at 12, tennis again in the afternoon, cook an awesome roast beef for the kids, and do a hot yoga class. As Max said this morning, yeh, Mom, you'r working out every hour today. It's ok. I'm losing weigh and toning up.

One day at a time.

Update... I think I'm going to skip or go to a later yoga class as I'm POOPED. The tennis this a.m. was hard as it was just Linda and me so 1.5 hours run run run hit hit hit. Then the workout class I just took killed me as well and now I have to go play another 1.5 hours of tennis. At least this tennis will be easy (just doubles and low key). I have to pick up the skis still.
I'm tired!

My son is so cool (so is my daughter).

Last night I took Max shopping for Xmas presents for himself. He wanted some new clothes and really needed some waterproof boots/shoes that fit for the snow/wet winter. We - together - picked out some really nice stuff for him from Nordstroms. I especially like the Diesel jeans he got. Ever since he started reading GQ, he's been up to date on what is "hip". He's just a good kid. We went to Whole Foods yesterday as well and I was talking with the cashier (as I always talk with everybody) about the fact that he had applied for a job but didn't even get an interview and it turns out the cashier's girlfriend is the hiring manager so he took Max's name and told him to apply again and he would tell her about him. Max had been bagging our groceries during this.

Kathi finished one of her required drawings for RISD. She has to submit 3 of them all done in pencil and this one is the best drawing I think she has ever done. When I saw it, I thought to myself, they will let her in when they see this.
Drawings
Three drawing samples are required of all candidates. Each drawing must be done using graphite pencil on a sheet of white paper measuring 16 x 20"; other drawing materials should not be used. The first drawing must represent a bicycle; the second, an interior or exterior environment; the subject matter for the third drawing is up to the applicant (you may draw any object, subject or situation). You may approach these three drawings in any way you wish. For example, your drawings may be realistic or abstract; you may choose to draw the object alone or place it in a situation; you may draw the whole object or only a portion of it, etc. Each drawing must be signed and dated, and if necessary, should be treated to prevent smudging in handling. Each drawing should be folded in half and half again so that it will fit in your application folder in the Admissions Office. On the outside of each folded drawing print your full name.

Didn't get in bed early enough last night for getting up as early as I did today.

Now I'm going to read the 13 1/2 lives of Captain Blue Bear.
Max said it was good as well as Rumo (which I will also read).

Today's listening music is Shpongle. I love it!

Sooo much FUN!

Nicole and I went skiing yesterday at Vail and we were all over the mountain! Bumps, groomers, backbowls, trees (me!!). Great snow, very soft and only in one place that we were in the back - West facing - was there any rocks/dirt to be seen.
We also ran into Scott the instructor I used to ski with in Devo. Kathi and I are going up this weekend. I hope they get more snow before then. It's so great to be able to ski during the week and once again, I'm so glad I have people who can go with me up there. NO lines at all.

I have a lot to do today, doctor's appointment, bank, Office Max, tennis for 3 hours straight, cooking, cleaning, dogs etc. etc. I hope I will have time to do a yoga class.

It's finally warming up some here too. It's 60 on the back porch in the sun already which is so much nicer than 10.

Amazon seems to be having some difficulties this a.m. or this POS dell that I'm on right now is.

Blue mood.

Outside, I'm masquerading
Inside, my heart is fading
I'm just a clown
Since you put me down
My smile is my makeup
I wear since my breakup with you

Still cold..

At least it is sunny but it is cold. Nicole and I are going skiing tomorrow and I have to take Kathi's skis to get tuned so we can go next Saturday. Some of the back bowls are open now. Max is at El-boring-bora today boarding without his helmet!!! Bad Max!

I am reading When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron (with dots over the o's that I can't make on this computer). It's not an easy read and I'm thinking a lot. I had another bad dream last night. It's weird how I can experience feelings that I would in my waking life in my dreams.

I wonder if they will ever figure out how the KGB dude got poisoned. If it was through his food or if he some how inhaled the poison. I've been reading about it as usual. That's pretty much all I've done today is read and listen to music.

Wow, I just realized that my options to insert links and stuff is gone from this posting. Hmm.

Today is the last day of working for me in awhile. Now I have my two days off, then two on, then 3 off!!! I'm going to get the Xmas tree next weekend or Friday maybe and put it up with nice lights on it.

I need a massage again. Sigh.
